Max Cooper (Live AV)
Max Cooper has carved a unique space as an audio-visual artist with a science PhD and an international reputation as a leading electronic musician.
His work carries an emotional resonance and sensory immersion, often focusing on humanity’s place in the world. He merges electronic music and visual art with scientific enquiry through installations, live performance, immersive audio-visual experiences, a range of digital media and award-winning music videos.
Unspoken Words is Cooper’s 6th studio album and the latest in an impressive back catalogue that dates back to 2007, when he juggled studying Computational Biology with being resident DJ at a local techno club.
He recently supplied the music for a powerful video narrated by Greta Thunberg and Pope Francis and played at COP26, urging world leaders to consider climate and environment in Covid recovery plans. Last year, he became the first techno artist to play at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.
Other work includes commissions from The Barbican, France TV, AND& festival, Waltham Forest Borough Council, and collaborations with Zaha Hadid Architects, The Babraham Institute, and L-Acoustics alongside musical reworks of contemporary classical musicians including Philip Glass, Nils Frahm, Terry Riley and Michael Nyman and pop artists Hot Chip and Moby.
His label, Mesh, is keenly placed to explore the intersection of music, art and science through interdisciplinary creative collaborations that blur lines between art, mathematics, film, choreography, sciences, architecture, psychology and spirituality.

Groove Armada (DJ Set)
The duo - Tom Findlay and Andy Cato - first met in London back in the nineties and their combined talent took them to the highest of heights: three UK Top 10 albums; three Grammy nominations; a BRIT nomination; and a succession of hit singles that are still being discovered by new fans to this day. 25 years on, they have gone on to become one of the most successful dance acts of all time, and maintain their position as an influential force in the music industry. From the dancehall dub of ‘Superstylin’’ to the crossover pop appeal of ‘Song 4 Mutya (Out of Control)’ and from the dancefloor-igniting ‘I See You Baby’ to the woozy sunset vibes of ‘At The River’, Groove Armada have consistently and uncompromisingly followed their own vision. Each one of those cuts stands alone as a certified classic, revered in the dance music hall of fame for their timeless appeal.

Leftfield
Formed in 1988, Leftfield quickly became one of the most influential and innovative dance music acts of all time. Originally comprised of Neil Barnes and Paul Daley, Leftfield’s legendary live-performances paired with seminal albums, 1995s Leftism and 1999s Rhythm & Stealth (both Mercury Music Prize nominees), solidified their position as true pioneers. The group then went on a hiatus in 2002 before returning in 2010 for live-appearances (now led solely by Barnes).. 2015’s Alternative Light Source was the first Leftfield album in sixteen years. The record garnered acclaim from The Guardian, The Observer, Uncut, Mojo and more, and featured Jason Williamson (Sleaford Mods) and Tunde Adebimpe (TV on The Radio), amongst others. In 2017 the band reissued their classic album Leftism, remastering the original 11 tracks of the record and releasing 11 remixes. They then embarked on a special sold out tour in support of the reissue, playing Leftism in its entirety and then in 2022 they returned with their new album, This Is What We Do.

Greentea Peng
If there’s one thing to know about Peng, she runs things her own way, writing lyrics that range from the spiritual to the overtly political, and recording her acclaimed debut album MAN MADE tuned to a frequency of 432 Hz, a semitone below the industry standard 440, may help go some way to explaining the subliminal ways she emanates both a vibe and a special energy. Permeating Greentea Peng’s tracks are questions around identity, place and belonging, so it makes perfect sense that her debut COLOR’s live performance became such a viral hit and that MAN MADE’s release in the summer of 2021 instantly struck a resonant chord with listeners across the globe. Her musical inspirations are as encompassing as her unique ragamuffin style and shake up a psychedelic cocktail of R&B, while influences from the soul, dub and reggae she grew up with are laced with reverb-soaked electronics. Look no further if your Saturday night needs a serious dose of positive energy. Greentea Peng’s recipe is more love, less ego and she has you covered. “The sound of a spirit operating in a totally free manner” Clash magazine.

Artwork
A Londoner through and through, Artwork is a man who has been a key part of some of the capital’s pivotal music scenes in the last two decades. After a time producing techno under his Grain alias in the 90s, fore-fronting dubstep with Big Apple Records in the early noughties and forming Magnetic Man alongside Skream and Benga in 2007 - Artwork is now busy injecting his character into London parties, festivals and clubs around Europe. After a 15-year solo release hiatus, 2017 was finally the time for the long-awaited release of ‘Let Go Of This Acid’ on his newly launched Unfinished Records. 4 years ago, he took a soundsystem, lasers, a bar and four DJs into someone he met on Twitter’s living room- and the idea of Art’s House was born. Art’s House invites rare disco, uplifting house, and unexpected gems into a living room setup at clubs and festival stages, with big soundsystems and inspiring co-DJs. Recent guests have included the likes of Maurice Fulton, Studio 54’s Nicky Siano, Jackmaster, Scotland’s Sub Club residents Harri & Domenic and many, many more. Artwork has now announced his biggest party yet, taking place in 2018 - Art’s House: A Lovely London Festival. January marks the start of Artwork’s 3 month residency at XOYO, welcoming guests like Derrick May, Omar S, Peggy Gou and many more to his house every Friday night. Growing up on a diet of musical variety and a love of records has made Artwork more than a DJ and veteran producer. An expert in all kinds of music, an insanely skilful digger and accomplished selector, his impact on London’s electronic music scene has been felt for more than 20 years. He’s produced Grammy nominated music and has been an important feature on London panels for topics like Fabric’s possible closure back in 2016. Best of all, Artwork still doesn’t take life too seriously. Shying away from relentless promo and lifeless social media posting, he lets his impeccable taste in music, top notch production and artful personality speak for itself.

She is an award-winning DJ, broadcaster, radio producer, and co-founder of EQ50, a collective of women working towards fairer representation in dance music. 2022 marked a string of successes for Flight as she celebrated 25 years of playing exquisite sets to music fans across the globe. Flight closed off the year with a DJ mag award for ‘Outstanding Contribution’ to dance music while Mixmag named her one of the ‘DJs Who Defined The Year’. This year, ‘Turn It Up: A Short History of Drum & Bass’, a BBC radio documentary produced and narrated by Flight, received a Radio Academy ARIA nomination in the ‘Best Music Special’ category. Flight has a rare mystical talent that transcends time and space. For over a quarter of a century, her star has been in ascendance. Flight’s influence on the scene has been immense and in March the New York Times wrote of her inspiration to a whole new generation of artists, including Nia Archives. The Next Chapter on BBC Radio 1Xtra was a seminal fixture that quickly became The Holy Grail for discovering new styles and experimental sounds. Flight returns to the airwaves with a new monthly radio show every third Wednesday between 9pm – 11pm on the legendary and freshly relaunched Kool FM.

Joe Goddard (Live)
Joe Goddard has been thinking about thinking. For the past few years, the producer, songwriter, and all-round polymath of UK dance and indie music has been trying to get more in touch with his own intuition. “This idea of trying to divorce your conscious mind from the music-making process – not trying to force meaning on the music or your collaborators, allowing that process to be very empathetic, and just making music purely on your natural emotional response,” he explains. It may come as no surprise to hear that this mindset naturally emerged – where else? – during the pandemic. At home, Joe reflected on his three decades of making music, two decades of marriage, and decade-plus of raising children. But it was only after opening Relax and Enjoy, his new East London studio with Hot Chip bandmate Al Doyle, that he truly understood the degree to which his outlook had shifted. “We’ve been working there producing a lot of other bands,” he says. “Looking at the group psychology of the people that come into that space, the creative process can be completely derailed by someone wanting to assert themselves and control the process. I’ve been guilty of being that person myself in the past. Sometimes you get this aggressive urge to be the person that leads the decisions. I’ve been working on my ability to turn that off.” Joe tried to set aside those thoughts while writing and producing his third solo album, Harmonics. Across 14 tracks of left-of-centre dance music – touching on UK garage, house, hip-hop, pop, and disco – Joe opens the floor for a number of collaborators. The voice of Ibibio Sound Machine’s Eno Williams rides the afro-house groove of “Progress”, while starry-eyed boom-bap track “When Love’s Out of Fashion” features UK rapper Oranje. Former Wild Beasts frontman Hayden Thorpe lends his uniquely expressive vocal to the low-slung house of “Summon”, and Joe’s Hot Chip bandmates Alexis Taylor and Al Doyle both appear on the gleaming half-step ballad “Heal Your Mind”. Other guests on Harmonics include Brooklyn dream-pop singer Barrie, emerging British singer-songwriter Findia, Bronx-raised singer Fiorious, Tom McFarland of the London dance-pop group Jungle, Guinean vocalist Falle Nioke, and UK jazz musician Alabaster DePlume. Yet for all the collaborators that Joe brings into his world, there are a handful of solo songs like “Follow Me” that capture the more reflective and inward-looking side of his music. “With all the different people on this record, I’ve been working on how to respect the contribution they make and not trying to be the one who has to lead everything,” Joe says. “That follows through into the songs where I’m singing. I tried to write words without having too much of an idea of what I’m trying to express, where I’m just writing a stream of consciousness.” Nevertheless, working without a set intention still led to some serendipitous moments. On lead single “New World (Flow)”, a rhapsodic house track with a powerhouse vocal performance by Fiorious, the lyrics coincidentally ended up being about releasing yourself to your natural instincts. “There was no discussion of that,” Joe says. “In a commercial writing session, there’ll be a lot of discussion around the title of the song and the subject matter, and a brainstorming session for the lyrics. With the artists on this record, I just wanted them to be free to write what they wanted to. There wasn’t a lot of overthinking.” Album opener “Moments Die” arose from another such coincidence. The electronic pop duet features the lush vocals of Barrie, an artist who Joe reached out to after initially discovering her voice by accident. “I was working on a remix of a song by Psymon Spine that she featured on. She comes from an indie background. I just thought: ‘That voice is really great,’” he explains. Elsewhere, the album features two songs with the emerging singer Findia: the out-and-out festival banger “Destiny” – perhaps the album’s most exhilarating moment – and its more ruminative counterpart, “When You Call”. Joe first encountered Findia when she booked studio sessions at Relax and Enjoy. “Her lyrics reference mysticism and that kind of English magickal pop in the vein of Kate Bush, which struck a chord with me,” he says. “I sent her these instrumentals. She’s incredible at giving these ideas a structure and turning them into real songs.” Over the years, Joe has to come to embrace his role as ‘producer’, in all of its different definitions. “The psychology of recording sessions is fascinating,” he says. “The role of producer is totally amorphous. There are technical aspects you need to know, like how to engineer sounds and mix, and being able to make suggestions for what instruments to use. But there’s a whole other side to it, which is just about managing the energy of different people in the room. That’s been the amazing thing about having the studio space. You have days where a group of people’s energies are just working together, and you get an incredible building of creativity and openness where ideas start to flow. You can feel the energy building in the room and coming into focus. You can feel the music coming to life.” This openness towards collaboration and the acceptance of people’s individual human nuances is where Harmonics gets its name from. The history of dance music is replete with words like ‘ecstatic’, ‘euphoric’, and ‘uplifting’ – but here, those words do not describe hands-in-the-air clichés, but the spiritual and human side that Joe explores in his music. “Part of the reason why I wanted to call this Harmonics is that I was trying to create something very inclusive and empathetic, something harmonious,” Joe says. “There’s a lot of aggressive division in the world, and I wanted this to be loving, romantic – and fun.” This is the soulful thread that runs through all of Joe Goddard’s favourite music – genres from soul and funk, to house and garage, that were born in Black America and enthusiastically adopted by the UK. Of course, Joe himself was not raised in downtown gospel churches, but in the London suburb of Fulham. That’s a side of his personality he’s never shied away from, either. “It’s possible to cover up that lo-fi Englishness using a computer,” he says. “But doing that is not being honest to yourself. If a track is gentle, or sonically leftfield, allow it to be that. Don’t let the computer take over and turn everything into some glossy, gleaming, powerful, but essentially inhuman thing.” Joe’s infatuation with dance music began as a teenager in the ’90s, as he graduated from indie onto hip-hop and dance music. DJing and producing electronic music was a natural progression for someone who attended taste-making clubs like That’s How It Is, Metalheadz, Fabric, and Basement Jaxx’s eponymous Brixton party. At the same time, he remained busy writing leftfield electronic pop music with Hot Chip, the band he co-founded with Alexis Taylor, his classmate from Putney’s Elliott School. Since then, Joe has become a mainstay of British dance and indie through his vast number of bands and collaborative projects, his live shows and festival dates, his production and songwriting credits, his remixes and solo singles, and his DJ sets. He has released eight albums with Hot Chip, two with The 2 Bears (with Raf Rundell), and one with HARD FEELINGS (with Amy Douglas). Other collaborations include the groups Extra Credit (a collaborative project with Justin Strauss and Marcus Marr) and A Pulse Train (whose other members include Caribou’s Dan Snaith, Junior Boys’ Jeremy Greenspan, Floating Points, and more). He’s produced tracks with Franz Ferdinand and Bernard Sumner; collaborated with Jarvis Cocker and Peter Gabriel; remixed Jessie Ware, Kraftwerk, New Order, Disclosure, and the Chemical Brothers; released the untouchable 2011 hit “Gabriel” with Valentina; and co-wrote Katy Perry’s “Into Me You See”. Across his career, he’s been nominated for two Grammys and the Mercury Prize. Of course, he’s much too humble to bring any of this up himself. Harmonics is Joe Goddard’s third solo studio album, following 2009’s Harvest Festival and 2017’s Electric Lines. Rooted in instinct and empathy, and featuring a diverse range of talents, Harmonics is not just a title but a promise fulfilled – an unbridled celebration of compassion, collaboration, and creation.

LTJ Bukem
Just who is LTJ Bukem? Ground breaking DJ? Inspirational musician? Record label entrepreneur? Club visionary, perhaps? The man who took the drum and bass concept from a small venue off London's Charing Cross Road to the nation's superclubs and then onto the international stage….The geezer whose records launched breakbeat into a brand new galaxy of sound…. In truth, he is all of the above: a Renaissance man for a digital age. Although he wouldn't like to admit it, LTJ Bukem is the living embodiment of the post-acid house entrepreneurial creative spirit. He is a mild mannered energy flash whose panoramic musical vision has found success in every area he has explored. From running sound systems to cutting up breaks at raves, from relocating the heart of breakbeat culture to redefining the spirit of drum and bass, the man known to his friends as Danny has sat at the forefront of breakbeat evolution, lighting the way with little more than a zest for life and a love of the music. Like many, Bukem's first introduction to music was initially through piano lessons as a child. The young pianist turned out to possess a natural talent, effortlessly picking up the basics, soon to be sight reading the music of Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky which rubbed off on him. However, thanks to his progressively minded teacher—Nigel Crouch—he was also introduced to the world of jazz fusion and developed his first true musical love - a style which has informed his work ever since. In the early eighties, (at the age of seventeen), Bukem discovered the joys of clubbing. The teenager regularly checked out the local soul venues, and legendary rare groove all dayers. As a keen record buyer, he soon became interested in the idea of mixing his own version of a club soundtrack, and in 1984 started a sound system of his own named Sunshine. During this time, he also dabbled with a jazz funk band for fun. DJing became his main focus, and by 1988, he gained a reputation for his unique sets. It was in 1989 that Bukem first realized that DJing could maybe offer a full-on career.

Born and bred in London, before moving to Somerset, Gallegos is a true underground gem on the rise. Music was in his veins from day one, with the trumpet and drums becoming his early companions. But it was the influential documentary SCRATCH that propelled him onto the path of turntablism, gifted with Technics 1210s at just twelve years old. Gallegos' beat juggling skills grew, building routines after drawing inspiration from A-Trak, DJ Premier, DJ Shadow, and Afrika Bambaataa. The Drum and Bass scene called, and Bristol's raves became his haunt. So it didn't take long for Bristol to become home turf and a place where his passion for music could truly thrive.. Ruf Dug
In the game for nearly 20 years now, Ruffy has never been one to rest on his laurels. In the last year alone he’s been nominated for Track Of The Year at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards, been made one of the hosts of NTS’s flagship daily Soup To Nuts show, resumed his DJ schedule in fine style, launched an audiophile rave that’s already attained legendary status and had releases and remixes on a host of top-shelf labels. Ruf Dug’s hard-earned reputation as a world-class DJ and Producer is no overnight success story - growing up in Manchester and Ibiza it’s not unsurprising that this life found him but it wasn’t until he got caught up in the squat party scene in Sydney in the early 00’s that he answered his calling, the DIY ethos there informing everything that followed. Since then he’s always followed his own path - sometimes coinciding with the ‘industry’, sometimes bounding lightyears ahead of the pack and having plenty of fun tearing around new cultural territories while waiting for everyone else to catch up. His productions have made their way into A-list & tastemaker’s record bags for a long time now. DJs as diverse as Moxie, Moodymannn, Ben UFO, Jamz Supernova, Gilles Peterson, Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy and Bradley Zero are all fans of the Ruf Dug sound and he’s released on a variety of a-list labels - in the last 12 months alone his work has graced the likes of Rhythm Section, Shall Not Fade, International Feel and WOLF music. His formidable NTS show is a great place to jump into Ruffy’s musical universe to get a sense of exactly how eclectic he can get - 8-bit video game soundtracks bump up against hour-long minimal jazz epics, wrong-speed jungle, slamming Detroit electro, private press outsider pop, Ruffy’s own productions and who knows whatever else - and somehow he makes it hang together perfectly, all while delivering ridiculous shout-outs to an adoring audience. When it comes to playing out he’s pretty much done it all - from Pikes to the Panorama Bar, from Gottwood to Glastonbury, from Brilliant Corners to Barbarellas to Burning Man - no dance floor remains un-buzzed for long when Ruffy is at the controls - and preferably for a long stint; when your range is as wide as this then it’s actually possible to deliver a genuine ‘journey’ set, something few DJs are able to do despite all the nonsense hype that gets bandied about. What can’t be understated is the pure fun at the heart of everything Ruf Dug does. There’s a rich vein of gentle, friendly humour running through all of his output - from the daft shoutouts on NTS to his playful DJ blends and silly track names, Ruffy is unafraid to lean into the simple act of enjoying one’s self, and everything he does is an expression of that sentiment - and it’s infectious. Put simply - hit up Ruffy if you want a GOOD TIME.
